Mr. William Joe Haas, 77, of Lenoir went home to be with Jesus on October 30, 2019 in his home, while surrounded by his family and loved ones. Mr. Haas was born September 25, 1942 in Caldwell County to the late Fred and Mae Haas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Arvil Haas and Dennis Caroll Haas, and his former wife Cynthia (mother of his children). Joe was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a proud veteran of the United States Army and United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. After serving, he was employed as a long-distance truck driver for Hibriten Chair, then Lenoir Mirror for over 40 years. Joe enjoyed recreational camping with his wife Ersula, gardening, riding horses (in his younger days), but most of all sharing his many life stories with his family and friends, and never met a stranger. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Violent Ersula Haas of the home, son Christopher Ryan Haas and his fiancee Sandra Tolbert of Lenoir; daughter Dawn Haas Denlinger and husband Chris of Raleigh; brother Dale Haas of Lenoir; brother Boyd Haas of Hickory; brother Steve Haas and wife Janet of Charlotte; and sister Rachel Haas of Lenoir. Also left to cherish are three grandchildren Jessica Dowling of Mooresville, Lukas Haas of Lenoir, and Willa Claire Denlinger of Raleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews and a loving extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Veterans Administration. Services will be held at Grandview Park Baptist Church, where he was a member with his wife, on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Raymond Spann and Pastor Jim Phillips officiating.
