Wanda Mathewson Tolbert

(March 16, 1940 – October10, 2022)

Wanda M. Tolbert, 82, of Granite Falls, NC went home to be with her Lord on October 10, 2022.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Robinson, her parents, Mark and Verna Shell Mathewson and her siblings, Harold Mathewson, Mickey Mathewson, Jerry Mathewson, Patty Richardson, Jo Rhyne and Gwendolyn Mason.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years, Paul S. Tolbert, daughters, Leslie Wells (Lee), Regina Craig (Ryan), grandchildren Matthew Craig (Alyssa), Emily Johnson (Tony), Caitlin Harrell (Ethan Thacker), Penelope Harrell and Noah Bachman.  Great-grandchildren include Aurora Johnson, Theo Johnson, Benjamin Craig and Maylee Craig.

Wanda was a woman of faith and a faithful servant to St. James Episcopal Church, serving/chairing the Altar Guild for 20 years.  Family always came first as she raised three daughters at home while being a caregiver for children most of her life, including her grandchildren.  Wanda was a kind, loving, and patient person who saw delight in everything, but especially having her children together for Sunday lunch.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 1:00pm at St. James Episcopal Church, Lenoir, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the General Fund of St. James Episcopal Church.

Evans Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of providing services to the family.
