Walter Baier

Walter Baier Mr. Walter F. Baier, age 91, of Lenoir passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Born in Astoria, New York, Walter was the son of the late Walter F. and Josephine Villenger Baier.Walter served in the US Navy during World War II.He had worked as an engineer with Carolina Telephone and then Southern Bell, where he retired.He was a member of the Hudson First Baptist Church and a 50-year member of the Hudson Lions Club.Walter sang and played the harmonica with the Senior Song Birds at local nursing homes.Walter will be remembered as a kind, generous Christian with a sense of humor and love of music, nature and travel.Most important, he’ll be remembered as a loving husband of 67 years, proud father of four daughters, devoted to his sons in law, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Glenn Williams Baier; his four daughters, Deborah Belcher, husband W. Mark, Marsha Wise, husband Mick, Laura Jackson, husband Bill, and Linda Ouellette, husband Rich; a sister, Pauline Baier Northop of Schenectady, New York; he is also survived by three grandchildren, one great grandson and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Walter’s life will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Hudson with Dr. Wade Dellinger and Pastor R. Mack Jarvis III officiating.Interment will follow the service at the Sardis Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
