Virginia Carlton Waters

Lenoir, NC- Virginia Carlton Waters, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Camelot Nursing Center in Granite Falls where she had been a resident. She was born in Caldwell County on September 10, 1921 to the late Romulus Carlton and Alice Ferguson Carlton. She was married to the late Everett Hughes Waters. Mrs. Waters was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who took pride in sewing clothes for her grandchildren; making pillows and afghans; and cooking wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Frederick Hughes Waters; sisters, Edna Carlton Steele, Wilta Lou Ragsdale, Dorothy Carlton Triplett; brothers, George Carlton, Lex Carlton, Herrold Carlton, and Russell Carlton. She is survived by her children, Karen Waters; Max Waters and wife, Bessie; Ena Waters Holman; and her daughter-in-law, Judy Waters-Baker; 7 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Waters̢۪ life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Service on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Randy Goode and Reverend Gary Waters officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in the Kings Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 prior to the service.
