Mr. Roy Mack St. John, age 92, of Lenoir passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at UNC Blue Ridge in Morganton. Born December 21, 1930 in Caldwell County, Roy was a son of the late Mack Roy and Pansy Mitchell St. John. Roy was an Airforce veteran. He served in communications during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan. Roy was a member of a gospel singing group called the Kindred Quartet for many years. He had been a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served many roles for 56 years. He served as choir director, a deacon, Sunday school teacher and Treasurer. He currently was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Roy was employed with the Caldwell County School System for almost 34 years. In addition to his time in the classroom, he helped with driver’s education, coaching and bus driving. Roy enjoyed hunting and woodworking. One of the things he liked most was watching baseball. Especially the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox. Most of all, he’ll be remembered as a family man. He would always be the first to give to his family in their time of need.
