Granite Falls – Mrs. Linda McDade Hood, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice. Linda passed away surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Burke County on May 13, 1945 to the late James McDade and Mary Whisnant McDade. She was married to Charles “Coot” Hood for more than 54 years. Linda was a loving wife, mother and an amazing grandmother. She was a long-standing member of Baton United Methodist Church, where she was known for her generosity and selflessness. In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by her daughters, Angela Curtis and husband, Eugeneof Beaver, PA; Jackie Sigmon and husband, Jeff of Granite Falls; sisters, Pat Hamrick of Shelby; Sandy McCall and husband, Dennis of Lenoir; and Casha Smith and husband, Ray of Salem; brother, Chuck McDade and wife, Linda of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Dayton Sigmon and wife, Trisha of Hickory; McAndrew Noonan of Annapolis, MD; Devin Sigmon and fiancée, Kristin Fox of Granite Falls; close family friend and caregiver, Buffy Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial and celebration of life service for Linda will be held at Baton United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Allen Boliek officiating.
