Word Williams

Mr. Word Wise Williams, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in Sandy Springs, GA. Born October 3, 1935 in Caldwell County, Word was a son of the late James and Ada Blanche Williams.He was a graduate of the Collettsville High School class of 1954.Later he graduated from Central Piedmont Community College with a degree in Police Science and General Education. Word was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1954 to 1957.At that time, he joined the Unites States Air Force and served through 1961.He was a police officer in Charlotte, North Carolina from April of 1962 through December of 1988.In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Hollar Williams; two sisters, Connie Roberta Williams Hollar and Doris Lucille Williams Watson; a brother, Vester Lee Williams. Survivors include his two children, Stuart Wesley Williams (wife Deborah) and Cara Ann Williams Gibbs. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private graveside service celebrating Word’s life.
