Wilson Walker

Wilson Walker, 76, of Granite Falls went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Christmas night at 11:35 PM at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Hudson. He was born in Caldwell County on August 21, 1940 to the late Milas Hamp Walker and Christine Hedrick Walker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Clay Walker. Mr. Walker was a veteran of the United States Army and the North Carolina National Guard. He later worked for Nu-Woods as a truck driver. Mr. Walker was a charter member of Heavenly Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 43 years. He had a passion for eagles and old cars. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Younce Walker of the home; daughter, Angie McPeak and husband, Art McPeak, Jr.; son, Kevin Walker and wife, Leslie; grandchildren, Miranda McPeak Hammond and husband, Matt; Kristina McPeak Reeves and husband, Will; Eric Walker; Brianna Walker; Laci McPeak; great-grandsons, Connor and Colton Hammond; great-granddaughters, Macie Griffin, and Ryley Brown; and his best friend, his dog, Miley Walker; brothers, Don Walker, Terry Walker, Dewey Walker; sisters, Arlene Greer, Jeanette Bristol and Collie Foster. A celebration of Mr. Walker’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Kenneth Poarch and Reverend Benny Greene officiating. Reverend Allen Younce will officiate at the graveside. Burial will be at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery with military honors provided by the Caldwell County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Shawn Smith; Mark, David and Tony Winkler; John Wilson and Brandon Edwards. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
