Willie Mae Hege

Willie Mae Hege 95, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Magnolia Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Morganton, North Carolina. Born September 4, 1929 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jessie Greene.

She was a life-long member of Yadkin Baptist Church of Patterson, North Carolina. Willie Mae began her career in retail sales as a sales associate with Cato’s eventually moving on to become the Assistant Manager and finally Manager. Cato’s eventually closed down at which point Willie Mae continued a retail Sales career with Belk’s at the Lenoir Mall. Her career with Belk’s ended at the age of 70 upon her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Artis Hege; brothers Cevil, Ed, Frankie Greene and her sister Marlene Honeycutt.

She is survived by two sons David Hege and wife Mary Beth of Boone, N.C., Dennis Hege and wife Faith Hege of Hickory, N.C., three grandchildren, Natalie, Joshua and Sarah Hege and two great-granddaughters Kirby and Lola, brothers Vernon, Gerald, Larry and Tom Greene and sister Betty McKinney.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Yadkin Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Yadkin Baptist Church, 2044 Roby Martin Road, Lenoir, N.C. 28645.
