Willie Banks Greene

Lenoir, NC – Mr. Willie Banks Greene, age 68, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his residence. Born April 26, 1943 in Caldwell County, Banks was a son of the late Willie Buster and Wilma Victoria Moore Greene. Banks was Baptist by faith and a member of the Rufus Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Collettsville High School and then graduated from Appalachian State in 1965. Banks was a dedicated school teacher and had taught in this area for 31 years. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Forrest Greene and Otis Greene. Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Angie Greene Macchia and husband, Morris; a son, William Brian Greene; a brother, Roger Greene; a sister, Lorraine Greene Woods; his grandchildren, Mara Beth Macchia, Molly Macchia and Max Macchia; Banks is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Banks’ life will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Officiating will be Reverend Mack Jarvis. Interment will follow the service in the Rufus Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Greene, Dennis Woods, Mike Macchia, Mark Macchia, Byron Jones and Jake Macchia. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Todd Greene. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials are made to the Hudson First Baptist Church Christian Life Center Building Fund at 345 Main Street, Hudson, NC 28638.
