The gates of Heaven opened up once again and the Lord above called a good man home. William Joseph Minton, known to friends and family as Bill, passed away quietly in his sleep on Tuesday February 22, 2022 at his home surrounded by loving family. In his early years Mr. Minton proudly served in the United States Air Force where he was honorably discharged after serving on several U.S. bases and in Spain. Mr. Minton returned home to Lenoir, NC where he met and married his soul mate, the love of his life, Aileene Stroupe Minton. In their nearly 60 years of happy matrimony they gave life to two beautiful children, Benny Joe Minton and Bobbie Minton Merkwa. Mr. Minton was a devoted member of Whitnel United Methodist Church and served his Lord and Savior with pride. In life he dedicated his free time to spreading the good word including performing duties as a lay speaker and a member on several committees of the church. He is survived by his loving wife, Aileene Minton; two children: Benny Joe Minton and Bobbie Minton Merkwa and her husband Paul Merkwa; his adoring grandchildren: Cora Deitz, Chris Deitz, Alliy Merkwa and her fiance Andy Muniz. He is also survived by his three siblings: brother Jim Minton, sister Gladys Hamby, sister Ethel Parlier, and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Caldwell County Hospice in memory of William (Bill) Minton. The family would like to end by saying thank you for all the cards and calls. He will be deeply missed seeing as he was such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. We have all been blessed just a little bit more by knowing this great man and we will see you again, Daddy. Thank you Lord Jesus and the angels up above.
