William Lee Hoskins

William “Bill” Hoskins, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, December 9, 2024.

Bill was born on November 2, 1945 to the late Willie and Nellie Hoskins.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Vera Hoskins; brothers, John and Roy Hoskins.

Those left to cherish Bill’s memory are his sons, Raymond Hoskins (Crystal), Andy Hoskins (Sylvia); sister, Barbara Roy; granddaughter, Caroline Clippard (Hector Crespo Soto) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was Navy Veteran, a jet engine mechanic on the aircraft carrier, USS Constellation.  After serving his country, Bill worked as a coal miner and pastored several churches for many years.

Bill was a faithful servant to the Lord and his church, Grandview Park Baptist Church.  He was a tremendous help to Pastor Raymond Spann.  He wanted to see the church grow and see members of the community get saved.  He did his part to keep the missions going.  Everything God gave Bill, he passed on, his wisdom, time, talent, and love.  Bill had a servant’s heart.

Bill once told the congregation “I’m old enough to be your dad, grandpa, brother, and I’m always here.  Mr. Bill will always be here for you.”  He was a wonderful friend and mentor.  Bill was a prayer warrior for all, a true Christian.  He wanted his life to give God all the glory.  He was a “top notch” man who was always “just there”.  Bill Hoskins was known as a loving daddy, brother, friend, and granddad.  He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

A service to celebrate Bill’s life on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 2:30 PM at Grandview Park Baptist Church with Pastor Raymond Spann officiating.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Grandview Park Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Navy honors.
