William Harvey Buckner Sr.

William “Buck” Buckner, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Catawba County on May 19, 1937 to the late William and Virginia Crump Buckner. He was married to MaryAnn Brooks Buckner of the residence for 10 years.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Noreen Hilton Buckner; son, William H. Buckner, Jr.; grandson, Shane Michael Buckner; and his brothers and sister.

Buck was an avid golfer and master furniture craftsmen. He was an active and dedicated member of Refuge Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and served in many other capacities. Buck was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his wife, MaryAnn, Buck is survived by his children, Blake and Sandy Price; Ronnie and Susan Price; Lisa Deyton; grandchildren, Brandy Hedrick; Jessica Warren; April Hullender; Amber Hollar; and Janny and Brandy Hendrix; brother, Charlie Buckner; sister, Judy Eldridge; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.

A celebration of Buck’s life will be held at Refuge Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 12:00 with Pastor Darren Peterson officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 prior to the service.
