Wendell Wortman

Mr. Wendell Wortman, age 82, of Lenoir went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at his home. Born August 29, 1940 in Cleveland County, NC, Wendell was a son of the late Majorie Hudson McNeely and Buland Short. Wendell loved the outdoors. He took pride in his garden and making sure his yard looked nice. One of the things that meant the most to Wendell was spending time with his three dogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Lillie and Carmie Wortman, who helped raise him. Survivors include his wife, Linda Wortman; a son, Jeff Wortman, Sr.; two daughters, Sondra Wortman and Kathy Pittman; his step children, Justin and Kevin Shell; three sisters, Libby Williams, Mary Ann Cook and Pat Blanton; two brothers, Jerry McNeely and Scott Hudson; he is also survived by nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Wendell’s life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM at 6849 Carroll Mill Creek Lane, Lenoir, NC.
