Weldon Eugene Stallings

Hudson, NC- Mr. Weldon Eugene ?Gene? Stallings, age 78, of Hudson, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his home. Born May 31, 1931 in Caldwell County, Mr. Stallings was the son of the late Neva Stallings Elmore and the husband of Zelda Brown Stallings. Mr. Stallings was a previous plant manager of Crown Heritage wood working plant and owner of the Lenoir Day Care in Whitnel. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict. Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lula Connor Stallings and Julius Stallings and one grandson, Aaron Scott ?Bubba? McRary. Surviving other than his wife are 5 children, Donna Stallings Laws and husband Glen of Hudson; Jennifer Stallings Bryant and husband Jeff of Hudson; Robin Stallings McRary and husband Scott of Granite Falls; Jane Stallings Roseman and husband Darrell of Claremont; Tony Stallings and wife Bessie of Whitnel; 9 grandchildren, Chris Jarvis, Wendy Shoemake, Clint Laws, Zachary Anderson, Willie Roseman, Summer Walker, Autumn Walker, Winter Walker and Brandy Stallings and 10 great-grandchildren, Chase Jarvis, Colby Shoemake,  Riley Shoemake, Sally Shoemake, Zoey Anderson, Connor McRary, Montana Canipe, Anthony Canipe, Bryson Gilmore and Ayden Gilmore. A celebration of Mr. Stallings life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Whitnel United Methodist Church with Reverend W. Leon Morrow and Reverend J. B. Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Friday, July 24, 2009 from 6 until 8 PM at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Chris Jarvis, Zachary Anderson, Willie Roseman, Rickey Canipe, Neil Craig, Jerry Holden, Ryan German and Daniel Gilmore. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Chris Honeycutt, Cordell Austin, Bobby Caudle and Barry Jarvis.
