Wayne Young

Lenoir – Mr. Wayne Howard Young, age 80, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. He was born in Pemberton, WV on February 22, 1938 to the late Howard C. and Goldie T. Young. He was married to Viola Clark Young of the residence for 33 years. Mr. Young was an active member of Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church until his decline in health prohibited him from attending. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sons, Joseph Young and Willie Goforth; and brother, Bobbie Young. In addition to his wife, Mr. Young is survived by his children, Keith Young and Sharon Powell; 7 grandchildren; sister, Deanna Bowden; his nieces and nephews; and his faithful friends, Marshall Greene and family. A celebration of Mr. Young’s life will be held at Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Dale Payne officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Bruce Maness, Marshall Greene, Adam Martin, Jordan Powell, Joe Cable, Ryan Haman, Marshall Greene, III and Dan Coffey. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Clark’s Chapel Baptist, 3212 Clark’s Chapel Road, Lenoir, NC28645.
