Wayne Mckenneth Teague

Wayne Teague, 67, of Lenoir, died July 30, 2008 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Wayne was born September 21, 1940, in Morganton, N.C. He was the only child of Ira McKenneth Teague and Beulah Farr Teague. He graduated from Lenoir High School and attended Mars Hill Jr. College and Wake Forest University. Wayne?s family owned and operated Teague Furniture Company in Lenoir for many years. He later became a sales representative in the plastic industry. Wayne was an avid model train enthusiast and loved showing his layouts to children, especially during the Christmas season. He was a great supporter of the Lake Hickory Shag Club where he loved to dance and had many friends. He was head usher at First United Methodist Church, Lenoir and held various positions in his 46 years as a member there. He had also held the office of Jaycee president, as well as North Carolina State Jaycee vice-president. In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by an infant daughter, Stephanie Lynn Teague. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gwen, his two sons, Michael W. Teague and wife, Angie, and granddaughter, Ava Juliette, of Hickory, and Jason T. Teague and wife, Lisa, of Mooresville, NC. A memorial service celebrating Wayne?s life will be held Sunday, August 3, at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Lenoir. The family will receive friends at the church, in the Christian Life Center, following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 309 Church Street, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645 or Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645. Wayne?s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Hospice staff and all of the many friends who supported Wayne and his loved ones during his battle with brain cancer.
