Mr. Wayne Milton Robbins, age 72, of Granite Falls, passed away on February 3, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice. Wayne was born January 27, 1946 in Caldwell County to the late Ernest Wayne Robbins and Edith Coffey Robbins.Wayne served in the U.S. Army with two tours in Vietnam.He was also a retired truck driver known as “Mile High”.Wayne was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and loved his church family dearly.In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a niece, Lisa Renee Herman. Wayne is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gail Robbins; a son, Kelly Robbins; two daughters, Beth Clark and Crystal Ekard (husband David);sisters Carolyn Hicks, Donna Herman (husband R.L.), Cherry Robbins, Lynn Roberts (husband Joe); a brother, Bobby Robbins (wife Debbie); five grandchildren, Aaron, Adysen, Kyndel, Leah and Lucas; his beloved pet, Edie Marie; he is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Wayne’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church with Pastors Doug Howell and Chris Helderman officiating.Interment will follow at the Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the NC National Guard Honor Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church. Memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St, Lenoir, NC 28645.
