Wanda Ashley

Wanda Ashley Lenoir – Mrs. Wanda Walsh Ashley, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice in Hudson. She was born in Caldwell County on February 16, 1942 to the late Albert E. Walsh and Belva McNeil Walsh. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Larry Ashley. Mrs. Ashely was an active member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church for more than 40 years where she was affectionately called “Sweetie” by her church family. Some of her favorite memories were holding class meetings at her house. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Mack and Benny Walsh; sisters, Myrtle W. Cannon, Jewel W. Allen, Vondell W. McNeil, Ruby W. Swanson, Linda W. Russell and Barbara W. Hollar. Other than her husband, Larry, she is survived by her son, Joey Ashley and wife, Angie; daughter, Angela Kidd and husband, Brian; sisters, Gail W. Caldwell and husband, Roger of Lenoir; Martha Sue (Susie) Stimson and husband, Doug of Arden, NC; grandchildren, Makayla Holman, Carson Ashley and Nicholas Kidd; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Ashley’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Mrs. Ashley’s nephew, Pastor Steve Walsh officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Carson Ashley, Nicholas Kidd, James “Pug” Ashley; David Caldwell, Tyler Caldwell and Brock Davis. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to the service.
