Walter Tipton

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Walter Ray Tipton, age 63, of Lenoir passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home. Born February 25, 1953 in Erwin, TN, Walter was a son of Ruby Sheehan Tipton and the late Taft Tipton. Walter was a machinist and had worked at Sander Electric for many years. Walter was a proud United States Marine who served in Vietnam. He loved to camp, travel and spend time at the beach. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam Tipton and Phillip Tipton and one sister, Marie Huskins. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Doris “Sherleene” Tipton; two sons, Mark Tipton (wife Annita), and Billy Edwards (wife Lovina); three daughters, Susan Jay (husband Doug), Ella Lee (husband Cliff) and Venus Carney (husband Dorvin); two sisters, Charlotte “Charlee” Dwyer (husband Don) and Terri Sams (husband Tom); his best friend, Sparky Owens, and numerous close friends; he is also survived by 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. There will be no services at this time. Memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
