Walter Gene Phillips

Walter Gene Phillips, 80, of Lenoir passed away on August 7, 2022 at his residence. Walter was born in Watauga County on September 17, 1941 to the late Hoy and Pansy Phillips. Walter was married to the late Carol Phillips. Walter had a passion for restoring classic cars, in particular cars from the 1950’s – 1960’s. He, also, enjoyed fishing with his brothers. Walter developed over his life a strong Christian faith that he shared with anyone that he encountered. He displayed a faithful care and love for his wife, never leaving her side in her time of illness. Walter will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Walter is preceded in death by his sister, Frances Ragan.

Walter is survived by his daughter Mary Jane Houston. He is survived by his granddaughter Amber Lee Randall and husband Brent and his great-grandson Ace Randall. Walter is survived by his brothers: Jimmy Phillips and Leeroy Phillips and his wife Joann.

The family will have a gathering of friends at Evans Funeral Chapel on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
