Walter A. Foster

Retired Army Reservist Major Walter Allen Foster 63, of Las Vegas , NV died Saturday December 10, 2011 in Framingham, Mass. He was born February 18, 1948 in Caldwell County to Walter A. Foster Sr. of Lenoir and the late Ruth Gertude Ferguson Foster. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter A. Foster, Edith Sophronia Powell Foster, Filo Ferguson, Ophilia Ferguson and a bother William L Foster. Walter graduated from NC A & T State University in Greensboro, NC were he received a Bachelors degree in Engineering. He was employed and later retired form Polaroid in Framingham, Mass., were he worked as an Engineer. Walter also did active duty and retired from the United States Army Reserves in 2008 after 39 years of service. Survivors include his father, Walter A. Foster of Lenoir; three children, a daughter, Janice Foster Grant of Framingham Mass., two sons, Walter Foster III of Michigan and Christopher Foster Framingham, Mass.; Eight grandchildren, Allysa, Alexis, Alanah Grant, Jordon Flores, Cassaundra Marley, Arianna Lourie, Walter Foster IV; three brothers Preston Foster Greensboro, NC, Joesph Foster of Las Vegas, NV and Fredrick Foster, of Lenoir; five sisters, Cheryl F. Burgess, Evang. Yvette Smith, Joan Wells, Ruth Ferguson, and Minnie Dula, of Lenoir. Funeral service will be held Friday December 23, 2011 at Smith Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Alvin Brown officiating.
