Hudson, NC - Mrs.  Virginia Dare Woodie, age 88, of Hudson, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Gateway Nursing Center of Lenoir. Born July 25, 1921 in Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late Ciscero Adams and Ila Sturgill Adams. She was a member of Refuge Missionary Baptist Church, Hudson, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Woodie; one brother and three sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Pearl Setzer and husband Dennis of Sawmills; Betty Hoyle and husband Paul of Lenoir; 5 sons, Eddie Woodie and wife Shirley of Ozark, Al, Reverend Jerry Woodie and wife Pat of Hudson, Larry Woodie and wife Carolyn of Lenoir, Garry Woodie of Lenoir, Dennis Woodie and wife E?Lesa of Granite Falls; seventeen grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Devine, Sue Hilton, Myrna Golds and Nancy Pharr; one brother, Donnie Adams; she is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A celebration of Mrs. Woodie?s life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Refuge Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Woodie and Reverend Larry Marley officiating. Burial will follow in Mariah?s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Woodie?s Grandsons. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Refuge Missionary Baptist Church.
