Virginia Bolick Underdown

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Virginia Bolick Underdown, age 83, of Lenoir, was called to her heavenly home Thursday, July 17, 2008. Born November 8, 1924 in Rutherford College, she was a daughter of the late Junius E. and Lelia May Adams Bolick and the wife of William Leman Underdown of the home. Mrs. Underdown retired from ownership of Underdown Flowers in 1973. She was a member of West Lenoir Baptist Church where she was very active after retirement. She enjoyed loving her grandchildren, great-grandchild, her friends and her Lord, Jesus Christ and especially the ?love of her life?, her husband, Leman. Surviving other than her husband are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dr. David E. Weaver of Greenville, SC; her daughter Cathy Wooldridge of Columbia, SC; grandsons and their wives, Ben and Melissa Weaver; Joe and Amanda Weaver; granddaughter and husband, Katie and Gion Mendez and great-granddaughter, Morgan Weaver. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Paul Douglas Bolick, Reverend Horace E. Bolick, Earl A. Bolick and 2 sisters, Hazel B. Newell and Ruth M. Bolick. A celebration of Mrs. Underdown?s life will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2008 at West Lenoir Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Safriet and Reverend James Lockee officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rutherford College. Mrs. Underdown will lie in state from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2008 at West Lenoir Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be: George Maust, Gene Hamby, Doyle Baker, Benjamin Weaver, Joseph Weaver, Gion Mendez and Bob Fisher.
