Virginia Barrier Small

Lenoir – Mrs. Virginia Barrier Small, age 80, of Lenoir, went to be with her Lord and Savior,Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.Born February 22, 1935 in Avery County, Mrs. Small was a daughter of the late Oliver and Ella Hall Barrier and the wife of the late A.B. Small. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Barry Small. Mrs. Small and her husband had owned Small’s Crafts for many years.She was a wonderful wife; loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by three children, Allen Brent Small and wife Donna; Andrew Howard Small; Virginia Dare Collins and fiancé, Isaac Manual Shatley, Jr.; all of Lenoir; one sister, Verna Mae Oliver of Troutman; half-sister, Linda Spears of Lenoir; daughter-in-law, Diane Small; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Small’s life will be held 2:00 PM Monday in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Josh Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be:Brent Small, Chris Small, Jonathan Small, Nick Small, Elijah Small and Adam Small.Honorary pallbearers will be:Dylan Goins and Andrew Small. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to help offset final expenses.
