Virginia Sloan Sherrill

Conover, NC- Mrs. Virginia Sloan Hunike Sherrill, age 29, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Sloan is the wife of Brandon Sherrill of Conover. She was born in Durham, NC on July 29, 1981 to Mark and Aydlett Carson Hunike. Sloan was a graduate of Northern High School in Durham and earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Appalachian State University. She was a medical social worker for Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl Hunike, James William Carson and Carolyn Carson, and her uncle James Samuel Cooper. In addition to her husband and parents she is survived by her brothers, Stephen Hunike and Brian Carden; grandmother, Shirley Ann Hunike; father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Lorraine Sherrill; brother-in-law, Brett Sherrill; aunts, uncles and cousins, William and Carolyn Bardill, children Kimberly and Matthew; Robert and Joy Gornto, children Zachary and Josh; Scott and Nancy Swanek, children Logan, Carson and Aria; Mike and Nancy Hunike, children Joey, Jarrod, and Jack; Diane Johnston and children Carl and Catherine;Mary and John Freas, children Ellen and Dennis Daniels and Erica and Jason Brewer; Dr. James W. and Sally Carson; Mrs. Virginia Cooper; Edwin and Janet Carson; Mrs. Marsha S. Carson and daughter Meredith; and her special relatives, Doreen Smith and Bryce Sherrill. A celebration of Sloan̢۪s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, March 12, 20ll at 2:00 with Nancy Campbell, Hospice Chaplain officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to the service.
