Lenoir, NC-Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth Tuttle Laxton, age 91, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born May 27, 1921 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Laxton was the daughter of the late Hulme and Julia Harris Tuttle. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Dale Laxton; her brother, William Lake Tuttle, one niece, Barbara Ann Tuttle Dula and one nephew, Robert “R.P.†Ingle. Mrs. Laxton was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church, were she was very active in her Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Eastern Star and worked in retail for many years at Spainhour’s. She will always be remembered for having a well-kept home and being such a wonderful cook. She is survived by her husband, John Wilson Laxton to whom they had shared 73 years of marriage. She is also survived by 4 nieces, Laura Laxton Ingle, of Asheville; Marycallie Laxton of Atlanta; Sandra Leviner and husband Frank of Glen Allen, VA and Betty Crowe of Chesapeake, VA. A service celebrating her life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Lower Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Bert Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at Lower Creek Baptist Church.
