Granite Falls, NC- Mrs. Virginia Kay Herman White, age 67, of Granite Falls, passed away on Friday, November 05, 2010 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Winston Salem. Born May 5, 1943 in Caldwell County, Virginia was a daughter of the late Arvin Leard and Rebecca Bertha Alice Lail Herman. Virginia was self employed as the owner and operator of Classic Designs Florist. She was an active member of the Baton United Methodist Church, where she was involved with the outreach program and a Sunday School teacher. She helped to organize the original Girl Scout group in the Baton community. Virginia will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Herman and Wayne Herman. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jerry White of the Home; one daughter and son in law, Lisa and Jim Burgess of Granite Falls; one son and daughter in law, Jerry “Michael†and Lisa White of Hickory; three sisters, Ruth Holman, Rachel Cannon, and Bernice Edwards all from Granite Falls; four grandchildren, Megan White, Erin White, Kori Burgess, and Kari Burgess; Virginia is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives as well as being known as “maw- maw†to Phillip, Noah and Savannah. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Baton United Methodist Church at 4:00 PM with Reverend Leo Fair officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM prior to the service. Memorials can be made to the Baton United Methodist Church at 1034 Dry Ponds Road, Granite Falls, North Carolina 28630.
