Violet Sue Hilton

Lenoir, NC – Violet R. Sue Adams Hilton, age 86, of Lenoir, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.Born January 11, 1929 in Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late Cicero and Ila Stergill Adams. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Houston; two brothers, Donnie and Bobby Adams and five sisters, JoAnn Adams, Dorothy Deviney, Lucille Davis, Dare Woodie, Lavonne Spears, one step son, Tony Lingle and one step daughter, Susie Lingle. Ms. Hilton was a member of Refuge Missionary Baptist Church and had retired from Century Furniture.She loved traveling, singing and making people laugh. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Fleming and husband Ben of Granite Falls; Wanda Watson and husband Don of Gastonia; one son, Donald Holman of Lenoir; one step-son, Barney Setzer and wife BJ of Hudson; two sisters, Myrna Golds of Millers Creek; Nancy Pharr and husband Delbert of Statesville; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A Graveside service will be conducted 3:00 PM Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Northside Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Woodie officiating. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Service on Thursday from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the Graveside service.
