Violet Mae Hawkins

June 22, 1922 — October 7, 2013

Violet Hawkins Lenoir, NC- Violet Mae Hawkins, age 91, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born in Wilkes County on June 2, 1922 to the late Ben Hawkins and Hettie Sanders Hawkins. Violet worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing of Lenoir and retired from Crestline Furniture in Valdese. She was a member of Hibriten Baptist Church in Lenoir.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Perry Hawkins and sister, Naomi Hawkins Beane. She is survived by her brothers, Ross Hawkins of Lenoir, Hurley Hawkins and wife, Betty of Hudson, Grady Hawkins and wife, Linda of Lenoir; sisters, Zelma Hawkins Coffey of Lenoir; Dean Hawkins Annas of Lenoir; Eloise Hawkins Bolick of Connelly Springs; Vernice Hawkins Whisnant of Connelly Springs; Novella Hawkins Benfield and husband, Jerry of Lenoir; and sister-in-law, Virginia Hawkins of Hickory; and she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Violet’s life will be held at Hibriten Baptist Church on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Douglas Cox and Pastor Dale Coffey officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Violet’s nephews. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 6:00 until 7:30.
