Viola Mcmillan Smith

Viola Smith Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Viola Austin McMillan Smith, age 98, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on February 19, 1915 to the late George Austin and Alice Julia Austin. Mrs. Smith was a member of Calvary Advent Christian Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence M. McMillan and Rufus H. Smith; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth McMillan; brothers, Earl Austin, Lester Austin, Hubert Austin, and Ned Austin. She is survived by her children, Douglas McMillan and wife, Joyce of Boxford, MA; Mary Alice Brown of Morganton; Wanda M. McGee and husband, Bobby of Lenoir; grandchildren, Cynthia Curley and husband, James; Michael McMillan; Pamela Drake and husband, Greg; Laura Zurosky and husband, Jeff; Kathy Quinn and husband, Tim; Mark Alexander and wife, Kathy; Celia Garr and husband, Bryan; Daniel McGee and wife, Laura; and Eric McGee and wife, Alicia; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A celebration of Mrs. Smith’s life will be held 3:00 PM Monday, March 4, 2013 at Calvary Advent Christian Church with Pastor Jim Lee and Pastor Daniel McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Belleview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Daniel McGee, Eric McGee, Mark Alexander, Steven Quinn, Richard Andrews, and Randy German. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM, prior to the service at the church.
