Victor Ellsworth Escalle

Hudson, NC- Mr. Victor E. Escalle, age 83, of Hudson, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born July 25, 1923 in Beaumont, California, Mr. Escalle was a son of the late Lawrence Arson and Olga Evelyn Erikson Escalle and the husband of the late Claire Sullivan Escalle whom he was married for 45 years. Mr. Escalle was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy where he served for 20 years. He is survived by 2 daughters, Yvonne Escalle Munday of Hudson; Corinne Escalle Pope and husband Cecil of Granite Falls; one son, Victor E. Escalle, Jr. of Hickory; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Other than his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Escalle, his sister, Blanche Escalle and two grandsons, John Andrew Porter and Jason Wayne Pope. A private burial at sea will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials being made to Cajah?s Mountain Baptist Church Building Fund, 2145 Connelly Springs Road, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to one?s favorite charity.
