Vicki Mathis

Vicki Hopkins Mathis, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Hickory Falls Rehabilitation. She was born in Rowan County on July 14, 1938 to the late Dr. Paul J. Hopkins and Estelle Waller Hopkins.

She retired from Broyhill Furniture Plant 3 after 33 years of service. Vicki was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Duke University basketball and rarely missed watching a game. One of her most wonderful traits was her amazing smile and contagious laughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Hopkins and Dwight Hopkins.

Vicki is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles Mathis; Brent Mathis and wife, Becky; Charlaine Mathis Setser and husband, Ben; brothers, Dennis Hopkins and wife, Suzanne; Eric Hopkins; grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher and Laura; and great-grandchildren, Brennon, Lillian, Morgan, Emma and Laci

A graveside service celebrating Vicki’s life will be held at Baton Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
