Vertie Mae Dancy Teague

After a long and valiant battle with cancer, Vertie Mae Teague passed peacefully at 8:45 PM Thursday March 19, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative care in Lenoir NC. Vertie was a daughter of the late Conard Dancy and Edna Isaacs and is also preceded in death by her brother; Charlie Dancy and Sister in Law; Shirley Dancy. Born in Watauga County, NC on October 6, 1940, Vertie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Evans Hughes Teague; Daughter, Remona Anita Teague and partner Rob Baldwin of Laurel Springs NC; Grand Daughters, Paisley Holloway of Morganton NC; Victoria Holloway Cooley and husband Colton Cooley of Sheridan Wyoming and Great-Grand Daughter Adelyn Stella Mae Cooley. Vertie came from a large and loving family and is also survived by her 7 brothers and 3 sisters.Brothers include, Glenn Dancy of Lenoir; Robert Dancy and wife Shirley; Jack Dancy and wife Ellen; Lloyd Dancy and wife Karen, all of Vilas NC; Billy Dancy and wife Virginia, Gene Dancy and wife Evelyn, Ted Dancy and wife Janie all of Zionsville NC.Sisters include, Susie Adams and husband Walter of Freeland MD; Kathleen Campbell and husband Gary of Zionsville; and Patsy Henderson and husband Bud, of West Jefferson NC.Vertie has numerous nieces and nephews as well. Vertie had love and sharing for all, including close family friends; Ryan Powell of Lenoir NC; Amber Graham Davis of Gastonia NC and Heidi Jersey of Boston MA.They will remember her fondly as they would their own grandmother. A celebration of Vertie’s life will be held at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service and Crematory of Lenoir on Sunday March 22, 2015 at 3:00 PM with Dr. Mark Petri officiating.Her Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, immediately following the service. The Family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM prior to the service on Sunday March 22, 2015. Pallbearers will include Lloyd Dancy, Rob Baldwin, Gary Campbell, Ted Dancy, Ryan Powell, and Andrew Magness.
