Vernon Lee Smith

Mr. Vernon Lee ?Mo? Smith, age 61, of Caldwell County, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at his residence. Born May 3, 1948 in Caldwell County, Vernon was a son of the late George H. and Annie Beora Smith. Vernon was Baptist by faith and had worked for many years as a machine fixer with the Rospatch Company, what is now Paxar. He enjoyed bird watching, growing flowers, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Flossie Smith, Josephine Smith, Pauline Smith, and Francis L. Fox; and one infant brother. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Steve Epley of Benson, NC; two step sons, Todd Triplett and Scott Triplett of Lenoir; five sisters and brothers ?in- law, Emma Jane and Charlie Wilcox of Morganton, Shelby J. and Max Hoke of Morganton, Betty Lou and William Reid of Hickory, Janie A. and Lowell Richardson of Morganton, and Judy S. and Richard Williams of Morganton; one brother and sister-in-law, George H. and Loretta Smith, Jr. of Morganton; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A memorial service for Mr. Smith will take place on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Todd Triplett and Reverend Eric Smith officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Caldwell County Area Transit System.
