Verne McNeely Lenoir, NC- Mr. Verne Conley McNeely, age 79, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Mr. McNeely was born in Caldwell County on September 29, 1933 to the late Robert and Florence Edmisten McNeely. He was married for more than 57 years to Rebecca Auton McNeely of the residence. Mr. McNeely retired from Singer Furniture Company and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norman McNeely. Other than his wife, he is survived by his son, Mark McNeely; daughter, Kathy McNeely Moore and husband, Martin; granddaughter, Leah Moore; and step-granddaughter, Danielle Moore- Thomas. A celebration of Mr. McNeely’s life will be held at Temple Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 3:00 with Pastor Joel Bixler officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Mike Holsclaw, Winston Church, Andrew Clemens, Reverend Tony Hamby, Bryan Greene, and Lee Lingerfelt. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to: Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645; McCreary Cancer Center, 212 Mulberry Street, Lenoir, NC 28645; or Temple Baptist Church, 1306 Old North Road NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
