Mrs. Verna Ward Tapman, age 92, of Baltimore, MD passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born August 8, 1921 in Baltimore, MD, Verna was the daughter of the late William & Marion Ward Fogle. Verna worked at Bethlehem Steel before her marriage in the payroll department and as a dietary aide at Perring Parkway Nursing Home in her later years. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She also had a love for her dogs and cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brent Tapman Survivors include her three daughters, Joyce Tapman of Baltimore, Joanne Crunkleton, husband Gerald, of Hudson,NC and Linda Tapman, fiancé Dominick Brusca, of Parkville, MD; two grandchildren, Kevin Crunkleton, wife Wendy, of Hudson, NC and Allyson Powell, husband Nathan, of Gastonia, NC; she is also survived by five great grandchildren. A celebration of Verna’s life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home in Parkville, MD at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service in the Parkwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home in Parkville, MD on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
