Velma Philyaw

Velma Philyaw, 85, of Lenoir, NC passed away on May 21, 2022 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson.  She was born on February 7, 1937 to the late Charles and Omie Woodruff.

In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Ed, Odell, Bob, Clifford “Jonie”, her sister Virginia, and her fur baby, Schatzi.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Betty Woodruff; her son, Chad and wife Carrie Woodruff, and her pride and joy granddaughter, Ellie Woodruff.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and so many others whose lives she touched.

Velma worked many years caring for others as a CNA at Caldwell Memorial and Shaire Center.  She was an amazing mother, gam-gam, and friend to so many.  Velma will be greatly missed and remembered as a great woman.

A memorial service for Velma will be held Sunday, May 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Preacher Ed Warren officiating.
