V. Corbett Greene

Lenoir, NC- Mr. V. Corbett Greene, age 77, of Lenoir, died Monday, August 1, 2011 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born December 15, 1933 in Caldwell County, Mr. Greene was a son of the late H.H. and Molly Hawkins Greene. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Mae Hollars and three brothers, Charlie Greene, Phristal Greene and Lonnie Greene. Mr. Greene was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Broyhill Furniture as a Production Manager after 47 years of service. He was a graduate of Collettsville High School. Mr. Greene loved his family and was well-known for his woodworking and mechanical repair talents. He enjoyed NASCAR and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Elsie Prestwood Greene, of the home; one son, David W. Greene and wife Patricia of Hudson; two daughters, Carol G. Keller and fiancée, Keith Clark of Granite Falls and Jennifer G. Shore and husband Chris of Granite Falls. He is also survived by two sisters, Sarah Wright of Morehead City; Ida Watson and husband Charles of Gamewell; 4 Grandchildren, Josh Bristol, Drew Shore, Ben Shore, Rose Philyaw and one Great-Granddaughter, Adalyn Marie Philyaw. A celebration of Mr. Greene’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Ted Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir.
