Jack Moody Lenoir, NC- Reverend Tollie Jack Moody, Sr., age 88, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born in Buncombe County on September 21, 1925 to the late William Harrison Moody and Ollie Viola Fisher Moody. He was married to Elise Hare Moody of Hudson. Reverend Moody was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II and the Korean War. During World War II he served aboard the U.S.S. Gandy, D.E., and the U.S.S. Olsen, D.E. In the Korean War he was an electrical instructor. Reverend Moody was a pastor and evangelist for more than 52 years. He was the Founder and President of Blue Ridge Theological Seminary and was also an author and song writer. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis Miller and five siblings. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, T. Jack Moody, Jr.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Reverend Moody will be held at Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 3:00 with Pastor Nicky Waters officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
