Collettsville, NC- Mr. Thomas ?Duck? Vannoy Wright, age 80, of Collettsville, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born January 14, 1930 in Caldwell County, Mr. Wright was a son of the late Arvil Grady and Bertha Naomi Bean Wright and the husband of the late Elizabeth Nelson Wright. Other than his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Wright Braswell and brother, J.C. Wright. Mr. Wright was a lifelong resident of Collettsville and a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. At age 12, he helped his father with logging. He had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing from his childhood with his uncle Charlie Bean and family. He was retired from Buss Automation as a metal fabricator/welder and worked at the Caldwell County Convenience Sites. He is survived by 4 sons, Tim Wright and wife Linda; Chris Wright and wife Janet; Barry Wright and wife Tonia and Michael Wright and wife Terri, all of Lenoir; 1 daughter, Trina Wright Teague and husband Kenneth; 1 brother, Glenn Wright; 2 sisters; Helen Wright Vines and husband Floyd; Bobbie Wright Vines; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mr. Wright?s life will be held 8:00 PM Sunday, July 4, 2010 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Nick Annas and Reverend Mark Annas officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM, prior to the service. A graveside service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 in the Harper?s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Danny Wright, Randy Wright, Roger Edminston, Jon Brittian, Justin Teague and Matt Wright. Memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
