Hudson – Mr. Thomas Glenn Pennell, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice. He was born in Caldwell County on June 15, 1936 to the late Coy Henry Pennell and Clara Barnes Pennell. Mr. Pennell was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked as a station manager for Piedmont/ US Air for 30 years before retiring there. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lenoir, Hibriten Masonic Lodge 262 and Scottish Rites. In addition to his parents Mr. Pennell was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Pennell. Other than his wife, Nancy he is survived by his sons, Joel Pennell and wife, LaDatha; Steve Pennell and wife, Wendy of Harrisburg, NC; grandchildren, Thomas “T.J.” Pennell and Alex Pennell of Lenoir; Allison Pennell of Harrisburg; brothers, Gene Pennell and wife, Janet of Charlotte; Bob Pennell and wife, Wanda of Winston-Salem; sisters, Hilda Winkler; Joyce Beard and husband, David; Kaye Howell and husband, Herbert; numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of loving friends. A celebration of Mr. Pennell’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of Lenoir on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:30 PM with Pastor Thomas Hinton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 prior to the service.
