Hickory, NC- Thomas Jonathan Beam, age 31, of Hickory, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at his home. Born December 19, 1978 in Pontiac, Michigan, Thomas was a son of the late Harold Lee Beam and Mrs. Helen Snow Beam of Lenoir. Thomas worked at the Olde Hickory Tap Room in Hickory, and he worked summers at Daniel Boone Boy Scout Camp where he specialized in teaching rock climbing. Other than his mother, he is survived by one brother, John Beam of Lenoir; two sisters, Helga Lewis and husband Randall Lewis of Okemos, Michigan and Annamarie Clark and husband Josh Clark of Granite Falls and 1 niece and 5 nephews. Thomas was a talented musician, songwriter, artist and poet. He played guitar, drums and sang in many bands, including “Lucky Space Rocketâ€. “Thompson†enjoyed rock climbing, camping, boldering, dominoes, disc golf and spending time with his friends. He was kind and caring and loved his family and friends deeply. He was loved and will be missed by many. A celebration of Thomas’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Hudson with Reverend Mack Jarvis officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church in Hudson.
