Hudson- Theresa Annas, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Theresa, Wife, Mom, Granny, Great Grandma was born in Caldwell County on August 13, 1926 to the late Oliver Newton Smith and Mae Wilson Smith. After graduating from Hudson High School, she worked in a Burke County hosiery mill for a number of years. During this time, she began dating the love of her life (Floyd). After WWII was over, Floyd returned home and the two were married on November 20, 1948. Theresa joined Floyd at Granite Insurance Agency where they worked together until her retirement. It was two days short of their 72nd wedding anniversary when Floyd passed on November 18, 2020. It only took 5 weeks for them to be eternally united. Theresa loved her Lord, her family, her church, working in the garden and in her flowers. A member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Sawmills, almost her entire life, Theresa was very involved with the women’s mission groups, the church choir and various committees. If the doors were open, they were there. Theresa and Floyd were also very involved with the N.C. State Baptist through the Disaster Relief Program ant trips to the N.C. Baptist Assembly at Fort Caswell for volunteer work weeks. Theresa was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association where she served in many capacities. Theresa and Floyd enjoyed traveling. They loved being together. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, and a sister, Jewel Smith Powell. Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Neil (Lou Anne) and Mark (Lisa), both of Sawmills. Two sisters, Pauline Smith Day (Troy) of Kannapolis, Maecile Smith Ramsey of Sawmills, one brother, Wilson O. Smith, of Sawmills. Grandchildren are Lauren Tilton (Ryan), Cameron Annas (Tiffany), Holly Annas and Aaron Annas. Great-grandchildren are Max Tilton, Cammie and Jak Kerns. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Sawmills, N.C. The family asks that social distancing guidelines be followed.
