Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Teckla Reins Kelley, age 91, of Lenoir, passed away Christmas morning, 2014 at Caldwell UNC Health Care.Born December 26, 1922 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Kelley was a daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Elizabeth Seehorn Reins and the wife of the late Lawrence Everett Kelley, Sr. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Roberta “Bobbie” Reins Wilkie and Frances Reins Webb. Mrs. Kelley was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Lenoir.Teckla was a world traveler and never met a stranger.After graduating from Peace College and the Presbyterian School for Religious Education, she served as a hostess on the Southern Railway “Crescent” and later was a hostess for the US Army where she managed service clubs in Germany.It was there she met her soon to be husband, Lawrence Everett Kelley. After her marriage to Mr. Kelley, they began their family in Lenoir.Mrs. Kelley later worked for the North Carolina Department of Social Services where she retired after 32 years of service. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Everett Kelley, Jr. and wife Kim of Lenoir; Franklin Reins Kelley and wife Angela of Lenoir and one grandson, Gwyn Kelley and wife Kelli of Lenoir. A celebration of Teckla’s life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Robert Hinman and Reverend Parker Williamson officiating.Burial will follow in Belleview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: Jerry Brown, Alan Rudisill, Jerry Bumgarner, Tommy Bumgarner, Mitchell West and Bob Prestwood.Honorary Pallbearers will be the Lenoir Optimist Club. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to the Grandfather Home for Children, 158 Grandfather Home for Children, Banner Elk, NC 28604 or First Presbyterian Church, 1002 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
