Sylvia Rose Bentley

Mrs. Sylvia Rose Ray Bentley, age 66, of Garden City, SC, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the home of her daughter.  Born August 17, 1946 in Watauga County, Sylvia was a daughter of the late Frank and Nancy “Vertie” Greer Ray. She was a homemaker, enjoyed painting, working on crafts and gardening. She was a former member of Blairs Fork Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Frank Ray and a sister, Judy Ray Coffey. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Jerry Ray Bentley; her children, Kim Barlow, husband John, of Lenoir, Gregg Bentley of Lenoir, Kendra Smith, husband Tom, of Lexington, NC, Glendra Chambers, husband Mark, of Lexington, SC; her grandchildren, Candy Enloe, Tiffany Walston Shatley, Ginger Reynolds, Erica Bentley, Alexis Smith, Nickalus Smith, Kristin Dillard and Lauren Chambers; she is also survived by four great grandchildren, Hayden Enloe, Madison Keller, Alana Caudill and Tyler Elizabeth Reynolds, two sisters and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor David Bentley and Pastor Lane Hamby officiating.
