Steven Michael Hollar, lovingly known as Steve, age 75, of Lenoir, NC, was called to his eternal rest on April 8, 2024. Born on November 26, 1948, he lived a life marked by unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
Honorably serving in the U.S. Army, Steve exhibited the values of loyalty and courage. His post-military career spanned 34 devoted years at the Caldwell County School’s Maintenance Department. In retirement, Steve's altruistic spirit led him to selflessly volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, contributing to the construction of more than 40 homes for those in need.
Steve was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, serving his Lord as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon. He was a man of integrity and kindness, whose every deed spoke of his commitment to his faith and fellow man.
He liked to play golf with his pals. His spirit found joy in traveling to Portland, Oregon to visit his son and collaborating on new projects with his daughter and son-in-law. He loved watching the growth and happiness of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Steve treasured the companionship and love of his cherished wife, Pat, with whom he shared 47 blessed years.
Steve's memory will be carried forward by his beloved wife, Pat Hollar; son, Bradley Hollar; daughter, Suzanne Bolick and husband, Chad; granddaughters Gracie Bolick, Brittany Felder and husband Drake; great-grandchildren Drake Felder II, Theodosia Felder, Hendrix Felder, and Novah Miles; brother, Bruce Hollar; sisters Judy Mullis and Joan Brookshire; sister-in-law Kay Hollar, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
He is now reunited with his parents, Ruby and Alfred Hollar, his in-law’s Harold and Blanche Reid, and his brother Ken Hollar, brother-in-law and all who preceded him in death.
Steve's legacy of love, service, and faith remains a beacon for all who knew him. His family gives thanks for the blessing of his life and while saddened by his passing, they take comfort in knowing he rests in peace with the Lord.
A graveside service celebrating Steve’s life will be held at Union Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Mark Robinette officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Union Baptist Church, 4595 Union Baptist Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
