Lenoir – Mr. Steven Wade McDonald, Sr., age 73, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on February 15, 1943 to the late William “Bill” McDonald and Lena Mae Brookshire McDonald. He was married to Elaine McDonald of the residence. Mr. McDonald was of Baptist faith. He was a member of one Caldwell County’s finest baseball teams, the 1958 V.F.W. Teener All-Star team, which won the state and regional titles before finishing second in the nation. Mr. McDonald also spent 6 years in the Army National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Wade McDonald, Jr. Other than his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Geraldine “Gigi” Sigmon and husband, Stan; Rebecca McElyea; brothers, Terry McDonald and wife, Libby and Gene McDonald and wife, Glenda; grandchildren, Sawyer Tray Hendren and wife, Kendra; Brooke Marcum and husband, Joey; Hailey Hendren; Jessica Bolick; Brittany Shallis; Tyler Coker; Cody McDonald; Josh Sigmon and wife, Michelle; Skilar Caldwell and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Bryson Coker; Sadie Hendren; Noah Bolick; Presleigh Marcum; and Jacklynn Hargenrader; The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 4, 2016 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
