Stephen Joseph Lambrechts, of Granite Falls, NC received his call to entertain the heavenly hosts on August 6, 2022, and a more charismatic individual could not have been chosen. During his almost 81 years, Steve created joy everywhere he went, with an unparalleled ability to make others laugh and feel like family. His witty banter and great story telling will be deeply missed by everyone he knew.
Steve was born in St. Louis, MO, to the late Emil Victor and Estelle Pujol Lambrechts. He attended Ladue High School, Missouri State University and Washington State University, and trained as a CPA. It was in St. Louis that he met his lifelong sweetheart Elayne Prestwood, who was visiting relatives. They were inseparable for 60 years, working together, raising a family, and traveling all over the world. Truly soul mates, their marriage was a wonderful example to many.
Known for his positive attitude and integrity, Steve served others gladly and often, sitting on the board for many community organizations; Caldwell Chamber of Commerce, Caldwell Memorial Hospital (Caldwell UNC Healthcare), Caldwell Memorial Hospital Foundation, Hudson Fire Department, and Caldwell Economic Development Board and many more over the years. He managed Quality Furniture Market for 30 years and became a realtor after his retirement. He was a faithful member of St Aloysius Catholic Church in Hickory, NC.
He adored his family, Elayne Lambrechts of the home, sister Joan Lambrechts Wyatt and husband Frank of Houston, TX, daughter Deanna Lambrechts Dickinson and husband Bill, son Paul Lambrechts, grandchildren Katie Lambrechts and fiancée, Rhyian Phillips, Parker Dickinson, Will and Johnna Dickinson, great-grandson Miles Phillips, Caregiver and friend, Rosanna Resor and Furr baby, Louie. Steve counted many friends among his family as well, a testament to his caring and generous nature.

Everyone is asked to celebrate Steve by raising a glass in his name and sharing a favorite story of great times spent in his company. A remarkable life well-lived. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday 8/11/22 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church (921 2 nd Street NE, Hickory, NC) at 2pm. Friends and family are encouraged to gather after the mass at Steve’s home.
