Lenoir – Mr. John Sterling Hall, Sr. age 87, of Lenoir, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.Born October 8, 1927 in Burke County, he was the son of the late John W. and Ellie Mae King Hall and the husband of Mrs. Amarylis Tate Hall of the home, to whom they had shared 67 years of marriage. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by 4 sisters, Effie Haney, Ollie Silver, Ched Winkler and Mamie Curtis. As an active member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church, Mr. Hall had served as a deacon and a Gideon.He was a member of Ruritan’s International and enjoyed fishing and hunting.He was an avid Corvair collector and restorer and was a member of CORSA/NC. Surviving other than his wife Amarylis are two sons, John Sterling Hall, Jr. and wife Brenda; David Wayne Hall and Terri; all of Lenoir; 2 grandsons, Scott Hall and wife Dawn of Lenoir, Destin Hall of Charlotte; 3 great-granddaughters and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mr. Hall’s life will be held 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Lester Honson and Reverend Stuart White officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, prior to the service from 10:30 until 11:45 at the church. Pallbearers will be:Matt Woods, Cody Hamby, Kevin Hamilton, Mike Woods, Zack Benfield and Dustin Helton.Honorary Pallbearers will be:Cecil Triplett, Marvin Triplett, Harold King, Charles Rich Winkler and J. W. Crouse. The family respectfully requests memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
